Dr Debra McDermott

I work in the areas of communication, culture and international education.

I have spent my career working in different countries and cultures, in roles that combine academic, operational, and strategic responsibilities. Through this work, I have seen first-hand many of the challenges faced by professionals and institutions that arise from:

• differences in communication styles

• unclear expectations

• difficulty adapting to new cultural and professional contexts

• language issues

These challenges affect everything from day-to-day team communication to career progression and the success of international programmes and partnerships.

Drawing on substantial real-world experience, I support both individuals and institutions to address these challenges in a practical way. The aim is always to improve how people communicate, collaborate, and succeed across cultures.
